About Us

Context

Many incidents have been reported in the community where deceased bodies have been left in the mortuary for days, awaiting assistance. The emotional toll of losing a loved one, whether it be a close relative or a friend, is intense. It is a challenging time for families and friends.
When a loved one passes away, the bereaved family not only faces emotional distress but also financial strain. Often, they lack information and support from institutions that could provide immediate assistance. Funeral costs are escalating, and families are often unfamiliar with the funeral process. This process entails arranging death certificates and medical certificates, retrieving the deceased from the hospital or coroner’s office, storing the deceased in a mortuary, purchasing a gravesite, and arranging for interment, selecting a funeral director, preparing the deceased, and scheduling the burial.

A Study on Community Needs

A study conducted in Melbourne West examined the need for a mortuary facility, with a specific focus on the growing Muslim population. The research engaged various community centers across the suburbs, including Caroline Springs, Altona, Hoppers Crossing, Little River and Rural, Manor Lakes, Point Cook, Tarneit, Truganina, Werribee, Werribee South, Williams Landing, Wyndham Vale, Laverton, Mount Cottrell, and St. Albans. Findings highlighted several key issues, including the lack of culturally sensitive services, limited access to mortuary facilities, and the pressing need for convenience and increased capacity. The study emphasizes the necessity of establishing a dedicated mortuary to adequately address the unique needs of the Muslim community, ensuring dignified and respectful funeral services. The team concluded that the establishment of a mortuary is urgently needed.
